MFT CAMP CREATE: DAY 4- DELIGHTFUL DIE CUTTING CHALLENGE

I would have liked to post this a bit earlier but working evenings lately has been kicking my butt. Today’s challenge is a die cutting challenge. I had a hard time deciding what kind of card I wanted to make with it. I searched through my stash and pulled out MFT’s The Whole Herd stamp set. I haven’t used it for a while so it deserves a bit of love. I just adore the cow image in the set. It reminds of a game I used to play called Harvest Moon. The cow was my favourite!

For my card base I used a stitched border die to start. I decided to use MFT’s Snow Drifts Cover Up Die-namics as a background. The three bottom panels were blended with the Distress Inks gathered twigs and espresso and the two panels above that, with twisted citron and cracked pistachio to emulate soil and grass. I discarded the top 3 panels. The ink blended panels were sprayed with water to create that droplet effect. I also lightly ink blended my card front with tumbled glass where my discarded panels would have been.

I kind of kept flip flopping on whether I wanted to use the frame with the inner panels or just the inner panels. I ended just using the just the inner panels and cutting out the top two lines and discarded the rest. The lines I adhered to my card for more visual interest in the sky. I die cut the stitched sun and adhered it to the card and looked through all my stamps to find some sort of small vegetable I could put in the soil. All I had was the carrot in Mama Elephants Honey Bunny stamp set. I die cut a banner using MFT’s Blueprints 27 and heat embossed a sentiment from the Whole Herd stamp set with white embossing powder.

The bottom two layers of soil, chick on the bottom panel, pig with chick on head, hen and sentiment banner were mounted on foam adhesive to add dimension to the card. Everything else was adhered flat to the card base.

I hope you guys like the card I made for this challenge. If you’re interested in any of the products that I used they are linked below. The next challenge is for shaker cards. I’m not sure what I’m doing yet but look forward to that!
