Doesn’t this look fun?

To create the card base, I took an 8 1/2″x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock and scored it at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″ to create a trifold card base. For my decorative panels, I used paper from Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Petite 6×6 Paper Pack . I am a big fan of ALL of Lawn Fawn’s plaid paper. They are just so gorgeous! Anyways, the dimensions for the panels are as follows:
-2 Outside Panels(patterned paper):1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ each
-Inside Matte (solid coloured paper that the inside panel is mounted on): 3″ x 5 1/2″
-Inside Panel (patterned paper): 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
-2 fish tails (patterned paper for the “shutter”): 3″ in length; scored at 1/2″ (I made my fish tail cut out about 1″ deep)

You also need 3 circle dies for this card. It doesn’t matter what brand or whatever but you just need one circle die that’s slightly smaller than the inside panel, one that’s slightly smaller than that one, and one for the sentiment on the card front (use your own discretion for circle size). I used Mama Elephant Sew Fancy Die Creative Cuts Set for my larger circle and for my sentiment, and Mama Elephant Pizazz Pieces Creative Cuts Die Set for the smaller circle

I glued my outside panels to the outside of my trifold card base, then glued the inside panel to the inside matte piece of cardstock. I took my larger of the 2 circle dies and cut out a circle in the midsection of the inside panel and set it aside.

I proceeded to stamp out my cat, ball, and cupcakes from the The Greeting Farm Purfect Cats Stamps Set , cut them out with their coordinating dies, and colour them with Copic markers . I also decided to add stars from Mama Elephant Carnival Toppers Stamp Set .

I adorned my inside panel with some of the Carnival Topper stars, as well as, cut out letters using My Favorite Things Little Letters Die-Namics to spell, “Happy Birthday”. Using the smaller of my circle dies, I cut out a light blue piece of cardstock. I placed the inside panel in the center of the opened card base so I could position what was going to be in shutter card. I positioned my blue circle, cat, ball, and cupcake and adhered them in place. I used dimensional adhesive on the top and bottom edge of the inside panel and adhered it into place on my card base.

Next, I took the fish tails and put Tombow Mono on 1/2″ of the fish tail, positioned it in place and just folded the trifold card base into it so the fish tails will be able to open and close and fit well together.

I decorated the sides with a strip of blue scrap card stock and more of those star and cupcake images and finished up the inside with Wink of Stellla of the stars and letters.

I wanted the outside to be simple, so I created a band out of more of that Lawn Fawn cardstock. I grabbed my circle for my sentiment and stamped, “Wishing you a puuurfect day,” in Versamark and heat embossing with Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder.

This card was also entered in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

That finishes up the card for day 12! Supplies are listed below for those interested. Thanks for stopping by!

Day 6- 30 Day Coloring Challenge: The Greeting Farm Little Fairies Shaker Card

challenge_graphic-mar16_plain-650-1

I’ve had this set for a while and really wanted to use it but never got around to it until now!! This is one of those sets that has been in my to-use pile. I’m trying to really be diligent and use my stamp sets that I haven’t created with yet.

So I envisioned a fairy dancing in a field of dandelions at dusk. This is what I came up with:

I decided to do some ink blending for my background and use some unconventional sunset colour. I ended up ink blending with Distress inks Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless PreservesChipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.

I didn’t show how the fairy was coloured in the video because I had her coloured from another day. I used BV04, BV08, C1, R14, V01, R22, R20, E95, and YR00. I also used a red pencil crayon and drew in wisps of hair.

You can watch how it came together here:

This card was also entered in Simon Says Stamps Monday challenge.

If you’re interested in any of the supplies I used in this post you can check them out below. Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be back again tomorrow for day 7 of the 30 day coloring challenge.

Day 1- 30 Day Coloring Challenge: Simon Says Stamp Pony Party Box Card

It’s that time of year again. The 30 Day Color Challenge is back!!

challenge_graphic-Mar16_plain-650-1.png

Today I wanted to share this box pop up card I made. One Christmas, my oldest niece was getting into sewing and had asked me for fabric for Christmas. I asked her what kind she wanted and she replied with anything with bright colours and sparkly. My cousin later asked me to buy her a My Little Pony Toy. With that thought, I take inspiration for this card.

This is what I came up with:

Unfortunately, the Pony Party stamp set from Simon Says Stamp that I used isn’t available anymore, but The Greeting Farm has several pony stamps, one in particular, that is quite similar, can be found here.

If you’re unfamiliar with how to make a box card base, please refer to my post here of watch my Youtube video below.

For the decorative panels on my box card, I stamped the Drawn Heart Background and heat embossed it with a gold tinsel embossing powder by Recollections. The embossing powder isn’t listed in my supply list below but is something that you can find at Micheals. The rainbow confetti paper is from MFT’s Sweet Celebration 6×6 Paper Pack.

After assembling my box card, I stamped and cut out my pony images and the party banner from the Baby Party Animals Stamp Set. The banner was cut using it’s coordinating die. All the images were coloured with Copic markers and assembled onto the box card using a combination of Zig Two Way Glue Pen , Ranger Multi Medium Matte, and Scotch tape. I stamped, cut and coloured an extra cake and cake stand to add to the back of the card as  a little decorative element.

Next, I cut out the second smallest circle from MFT’s Stitched Mini Scallop Circle Stax out of white cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment, “Have a happy birthday”, from Simon Says Stamp’s Cute Chicks Stamps Set in a blue tinsel embossing powder by Recollections.

Lastly, to finish up my card, I took my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Clear Overlay Pen and I brushed the banners and cake frosting with a bit of shimmer.

You can see it in action here:

This card was also entered in Simon Says Stamps Monday challenge.

That finishes up by card for today. That’s day one for the color challenge. I’ll be back tomorrow for more!

Personal Project: The Purfect Cats Birthday Card

It’s my birthday month so I decided I should make a birthday card for myself. When I first saw The Greeting Farm Purfect Cats stamp set I completely fell in love with it. This was totally one of those “TAKE MY MONEY”, kind of stamp sets. Great job to The Greeting Farm for designing such a cute set.

The cat image below is my favourite cat from the set! Fat cat, short legs, it’s like the cutest thing ever! I decided just to make a simple birthday card. I recently acquired stitched banner dies from Simon Says Stamp and I was itching to use them so I decided to break them out for this card.

That’s all from me for now. Supplies are listed below for those interested. Have a great day!
