Mama Elephant Chinese New Year Lion Dance Double Slider Card

Hey Everybody!

I’m so excited to share this card. I absolutely love making double slider cards! Also, my new favourite stamp set is MFT’s Fireworks. If there’s ever a reason to own different glitter embossing powders, it’s to use with this stamp set. The fireworks are just so fun to create!

This is what I came up with:

sxp+0rycqzqawz9unssisq_thumb_2219

I started by cutting out all the pieces to create the double slider. I ink blended the front panel and the 2 panels that slide out with Distress Oxide Inks Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.

I stamped out images from Mama Elephant’s Lion Dance and coloured them with Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencil Crayons. I used the following colours:

-Kids: E95, YR00, R29, R35, B97, B95, Y06, Y11, E47, E43, W9, W7, W5, Highlights with white gel pen.
-Lions: R29, R35, B02, Prismacolors Lemon Yellow, Sunburst Yellow, Pale Vermillion, Yellowed Orange, Cool Grey 20%, Indigo Blue, Peacock Blue, Ultramarine, Light Cerulean Blue, and True Blue

The also went over the lions with a Versamark Pen and heat embossed them with Recollections Ruby and Marine Tinsel Embossing Powder.

I heat embossed MFT’s fireworks with Simon Says Stamp Steel Navy and Antique Gold, WOW Cloud 9, and Recollections Ruby Tinsel, Marine Tinsel, Gold Tinsel, and Vintage Blue Opaque Blue Sparkle Embossing Powder.

I used some black card stock and die cut Mama Elephant’s Cityscape three times and glued them to my panels.

I assembled the double slider using a piece of packaging and scor tape and proceeded to adhere my stamped images in place. The two lions on the front are popped up with 3M foam tape.

I cut a piece of gold glitter card stock from Recollections Signature Metallics Paper Pad down to 11.3cm x 8.4cm. I didn’t want to waste the gold glitter card stock so I cut out the centre using the third largest rectangle from MFT’s Rectangle Stax Set 1. I also took a piece of dark blue card stock that matched the Chipped Sapphire on my card and die cut some visual interest with Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Windy Backdrop.

I adhered the panels together and onto a card base using my ATG adhesive.

This is what the card looks like open

So totally not a conventional Chinese New Year card. If you’ve seen Chinese New Year cards they’re usually red, yellow and gold, but with ink blending I did with the sky, a red card front panel just didn’t really match. Regardless, I still love this card and I hope you do to!

This card was also entered into Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge. This week’s theme is Alcohol. I don’t have any alcohol inks but the images were coloured with alcohol based markers. That counts right? You can check out challenge details or enter for yourself

Lawn Fawn Toadally Awesome Birthday Double Slider Surprise Card

This is my entry for Lawn Fawnatics #44 Challenge: Happy Little Critters.

I really wanted to try to make a double slider card and I really needed to use Lawn Fawn’s Toadally Awesome stamp set. This is what I came up with:

i%nczbxntksl55pta8tsxw_thumb_2220

For this card, I used the Lawn Fawn stamp sets Toadally Awesome and Rub A Dub Dub. I stamped the images with Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink because it is a Copic friendly ink and I did some Copic coloring. I used the following Copic colours: YG03, YG06, YG11, YG17, G14, G17, G19, RV21, RV23, Y11, Y06, Y08, YR02, YR16, V15, V17, BV13, B17, BG15, BG18, E37, E33, and E31.

I die cut the pieces for the double slider and proceed to decorate the front panel and 2 side panels. I ink blended clouds with MFT’s Cloud Stencil and Distress Ink Tumbled Glass.

I die cut the pond from Lawn Fawn’s Bayou Backdrop and landscape from Mama Elephant’s Kingdom Trio dies and proceeded to do some ink blending. I used Distress Oxide Inks Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Broken China, and Mermaid Lagoon for the pond and Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs for the ground.

I assembled the double slider and die cut the wavy banner included in the Double Slider die set. I heat embossed the sentiment, “Have A Hoppy Birthday”, with Tonic Classic Gold Detail Embossing Powder.

I decided to matte the slider on a piece of light yellow card stock and Lawn Fawn Polka In The Meadow Dew Drop Line Dance Patterned Paper. I realized after I assembled the card that it would be easier to pull out if I included pull tabs so I added them in. I finished up my card by applying Clear Wink Of Stella on the water lilies and dragonflies.

Mama Elephant/Hello Bluebird Chinese New Year Red Pockets

Chinese New Year is quickly approaching and I’m currently obsessed with making red pockets. I’ll give a quick overview on each red pocket. They were all cut with Mama Elephant’s Lucky Envelope Die and Stitched Gift Tag Die. I managed to make five different designs for this year!

Individual supplies will be listed under each pictures. Mama Elephant does have a line of Little Agenda Stamps and the size of those stamps would be perfect for these but unfortunately, it is the year of the pig and they don’t have any pig stamps that size. Hello Bluebird’s stamps set, Farmyard Little Bits was PERFECT to use!

I really love the Tonic Pearlescent Red Velvet Card Stock. It’s my first time using it and I bought it because I was looking for a red shimmery card stock and it was the only one I found! It’s 92lbs and it’s pearlescent on both sides!

That’s all from me today. I hope get some inspiration from some of my red pockets! I’ll be back shortly with my last Chinese New Year Card!!

Hello Bluebird Farmyard Little Bits Chinese New Year Card

This year is the year of the pig for Chinese New Year. I just acquired Hello Bluebird’s Farmyard Little Bits and the pigs in the set are PERFECT for a Chinese New Year Card.

uxj0wezisvmii68uxugsgq_thumb_2203

I stamped the pigs and flowers with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and used the following Copic markers: R32, R20, R11, R29, R35, R22, Y06, E33, Y08, W3, W2, RV21 and Prismacolor Pink PC929. The flowers were from Mama Elephant’s Lunar Extras Stamp Set.

I used Mama Elephant’s Grid Window Die and die cut it once in red card stock and 3 times in yellow card stock and adhered them together to create some dimension. I used the Chinese character stamp from Mama Elephant’s Lunar Extras and heat embossed the residual red card stock squares that came from cutting the red card stock with the Grid Window die with Simon Says Stamp Ultrafine Antique Gold Embossing Powder. I cut down squares of gold glitter card stock to place behind the windows. These red and gold squares will alternate and be placed in every other window in the grid.

I used MFT’s Stitched Numbers to die cut, “2019”, once out of yellow card stock and twice out of white 110lbs
card stock.
I adhered the background square and grid to the card front, proceeded to pop up the pigs and flowers with 3M foam tape, and adhered the year in the centre of the card.

That finishes up by card. This card was entered into Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge.

I know this is early but HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Waffle Flower Toadally Valentine’s Day Tunnel Shadow Box Card

This is my first card of 2019! I don’t usually do Valentine’s Day cards but this stamp set from Waffle Flower is so cute I couldn’t resist.

Front of Card

60ubpr30qtewidir73+z3g_thumb_2204

I started this card by stamping out all the images from Waffle Flower’s Toadally stamp set with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink and fussing cutting out all the images. I used the following Copic Markers: G82, G85, YG17, YG11, YG06, YG03, G07, G05, R29, RV14, RV13, RV23, RV21, R20, 100, T7, and T5.

I cut my shadow box base and cut windows using stitched ovals from MFT’s Stitched Oval Stax Dienamics.

I ink blended the front and inside of my card with Distress Oxide Inks Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Faded Jeans. The second layer of my shadow box was ink blended with Twisted Citron over then entire area surrounding the oval then ink blended with the previous colours. I wanted a subtle pattern so I stamped MFT’s Whimsical Waves Background stamp with Versamark Ink on the front and inside of my shadow box.

My sunset background panel was ink blended with Squeezed Lemonade, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, and stencilled Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink over a MFT Radiating Rays Stencil.

I die cut a wave from Mama Elephant’s Ocean Waves Trio Dies and ink blended it with Distress Oxide Inks Faded Jeans, Broken China, and Peacock Feathers. I also sprayed the panel with water to create some droplets and sprayed it with some Perfect Pearls diluted with water. I used the water ripple stamp and stamped it with Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink around where I thought I would be placing my main images.

I thought it would be fun if I created my own sentiment. I wanted it to read, “toadally into you”, so I heat embossed, “toadally” and “into”, with WOW Bright White Embossing Powder on black card stock. “Into”, I created using Mama Elephant’s Lots of Letters Stamp set and I die cut, “you”, using MFT’s Twice The Thanks Dienamics, once with gold glitter card stock and twice with teal card stock and adhered them together.

I assembled my scene and realized it needed more, so I stamped out the music notes with Versafine Ink and heat embossed it with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder. I also die cut some hearts from Simon Says Stamps Mini Hearts Outline Dies. I brushed some Clear Wink of Stella in the solid hearts and filled them in with Glossy Accents.

v%hmszapr9qrz%xtg8c4jg_thumb_2205

I die cut the largest stitched rectangle from Lawn Fawn’s Small Stitched 4 Bar Rectangle Dies and cut a matte for it (3 1/8″x 4 9/16″) and used it for the writing space.

For the front of the card, I popped the frog, lily pad, and, “Toadally” text up with 3M foam tape.

That finishes up by card. This card was entered into Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge and
